Benefits and Insurance

  • Disability and Life insurance benefits valued at approximately $660 per year
  • Access to recreational facilities
  • Access to computer education resource center
  • Access to UTHSC  library databases, including UpToDate and Pubmed
  • Four monogrammed lab coats or scrubs each year
  • Residents and fellows are offered affordable health, vision, dental, life, and disability  insurance through the GME office (GME insurance information).

Leave

  • Residents may take up to three weeks of vacation per year. Annual leave is not accumulated from year to year.
  •  Educational leave is offered at the Program Director’s discretion. 
  •  Residents are allowed up to three weeks of sick leave per year.
  •  Parental leave is available for the birth/adoption of a child (30 days paid, 12 weeks unpaid). Sick and/or annual leave may be used for the resident’s salary to continue. Additional time off may be permitted as leave without pay but may delay graduation.
